Even though, at this point, I have not read his book entitled Killing Cockroaches (it is on my list of books to read), I keep up with his daily blog; however, reading someone’s blog is no substitute for meeting them in person. As I have already mentioned, Tony was humble and personable allowing those gathered to see his heart rather than his head. His content adds much to the aspiring as well as the seasoned leader. Overall, both sessions were captivating and engaging making my trip well worth the minimal fee for the one-day conference. If you ever have a chance to see Tony Morgan live, take the time to do it.
Here are a couple highlights from today’s sessions with Tony Morgan:
Concerning Vision: “If you know where you are going, it will help you make better decisions today”
Concerning our Message: “What do people need to know and what do they need to do?”
Concerning Ministry: “Don’t confuse activity with growth”
Concerning the Church: “Instead of Jesus becoming the center of our lives, the church has become the center”
Concerning Growing Churches: “Growing churches are doing less ministries. They keep focused on the vision.”
Thanks also to Kary Oberbrunner and Grace Church for hosting this event. You can check out Kary’s real time tweets on the sessions with Tony Morgan here.
