My Near Death Experience

I was minding my own business as I was driving back to work from a lunch appointment, when suddenly, I noticed a huge semi attempting to merge into my lane.  You see, this lane merge was not an optional merge, but rather two lanes merging into one.  My lane continued, but the semi’s lane was ending…quickly.  The semi-driver thought that putting his turn signal on gave him the right to push my puny Subaru over the double yellow line, but I was already past the point of no return.  My car was near the middle of his truck and there were cars lined behind me.  In a sense, I was trapped so I decided to do what any good defensive driver would do – I refused to move.  By now, I could see him looking in his side mirror and I was giving him a good stare down, sort of like an old-western showdown, but without the guns.  He continued his forceful merge.  I was getting ticked.  He was close to pushing me into oncoming traffic.  I was looking for the “How’s My Driving” bumper sticker on his semi.

Nothing like a battle of the wills, especially when my life is on the line!  I made a last minute decision to floor it and then swerve over in front of the semi.  ”Take that you big jerk,” I yelled out the window.  Okay.  Maybe the yelling part is a lie, but I was thinking it.

Does that still count?

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
