The weather here in Northeast Ohio is a crazy thing. By my best estimation, here is the breakdown of how our seasons work:
Summer – June through August
Fall – September through mid November
Winter – mid November through mid April
Spring – mid April through May
As you can see, winter is the longest season in the Buckeye state and by the time spring hits, people are more than ready to get out of their houses. Our family is no exception. Last week it was unseasonably hot, around 80-90 degrees to be exact, and I thought our family should spend some time in the park to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. In the back of my mind I was also hoping to take advantage of the scenic walking track our local park offers in order to shed a few winter pounds accumulated from Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas egg nog, and Easter candy. The first mile and a half was exhilarating because I felt as if I was finally doing something productive, instead of retreating from the cold winter inside the warm confines of my house. However, that exhilaration soon gave way to discouragement when I detected a wet sensation on my left shoulder. Initially, I thought it may be beading sweat from the “power walking” but I soon discovered that it was just poop…goose poop that is. Although our local park is scenic and enjoyable, the small pond attracts lots of geese, and I do mean a lot. Normally they mind their own business until some bratty little three year old decides to run towards them and cause them to take flight; of course, frightened geese lead to loose bowels!Isn’t it frustrating when you are trying to do something good and then you get pooped on? I guess it is when you choose to pay more attention to the poop than all the other good surrounding you.
