Temptation is one thing all of us have in common no matter if you are rich or poor, small or great, known or unknown . Although temptation itself is not a sin, it is a solicitation to live outside of God’s established boundaries and our reaction to it has the potential to change the direction of our life. Most of us, at one time or another in life, have flirted with temptation. We’ve felt temptation breathing down our neck, whispering words to justify our choice, and painting a picture of a blissful future. In the moment of temptation we seem to lose all sense of future consequence so that we can embrace pleasure right now. But…I want you to keep one truth in mind. Those who are in Christ have no obligation to be a slave to sin. You are free from the power of sin. Paul writes to the churches at Rome, “So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11).
You really don’t have to given into temptation. You are free.
