I got into work a little earlier than normal this morning because I had some things which I needed to get done before our staff meeting. Upon opening my car door to walk into the church, I heard a wimpy bark…you know the only kind of noise which can come from a dog the size of a small rodent. I guess the tiny dog saw me get out of my car and wanted to let me know to stay far, far away from him or else. Or else what, he would rip my big toe off? Don’t be offended if you are an owner of a miniscule dog. I’m not making fun of your dog. Okay, maybe I am.Miniature dogs have always confused me, though. Why do they bark so often and so loud? I believe they do so in order to appear fiercer than they really are and hopefully intimidate those who are much bigger than themselves (which includes pretty much everything). You probably know some people who could be mistaken for a small dog. They are constantly barking and trying to back you into a corner, but just remember what Paul said to young Timothy, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). As a follower of Christ, you can be confident in God’s power and in the knowledge that He has already provided the resources you need to stand strong against the trials and temptations of life. So, go ahead and bark back. The little dog will go running.- Navigation:
